Guest update 2021

09 April 2021

To all of our Guests and Snow Fans

COVID has thrown us all a curve ball that we did not expect would circle for this long. It’s hard to believe that we’ve been living with this pandemic for almost 12 months to the day and that the next Afriski winter season is upon us.

After much deliberation and positive indications and assurances around border opening from the Lesotho authorities, the Resorts management have decided to go ahead with the 2021 winter readiness program which will ensure that the resort is fully operational and ready to receive winter guests from 10 June 2021.

Delivering our winter experience is no small feat and requires extensive preparation and capital. There simply are no shortcuts and this decision cannot be made on a ‘wait and see’ basis. We also believe that a greater sense of citizen responsibility from the authorities will allow some semblance of a new normality, and economic revival, to flow back into our lives, be it with the precautions that seem to have become part of our new un-normal coronial lives.

Thankfully our 300 hectare property and the wide open Mountains of Lesotho allow for a far better social distancing environment than can ever be found in any urban setting.

WINTER BOOKINGS 10 JUNE – 29 AUGUST 2021 ARE OPEN

It is our hope that you will heed the call of the great outdoors and venture into the mountains again this winter. We will be open as we were last year ! Glühwein, snow, hot chocolate and fresh mountain air await you at 3222m.

WHAT ABOUT THE CORNA VIRUS

It is to be expected that level 1 – 3 Covid regulations will remain in force for the foreseeable future which will mean that the resort shall operate at a limited capacity and comply with all regulations –  which means no lift queues, wide open slopes and a private ski resort feeling !!

OUR SPECIAL COVID TERMS & CONDITIONS FOR WINTER 2021 – BOOK WITH CONFIDENCE

In view of the uncertainty that the middle of the year brings with it, we have amended our booking policy around new bookings. A 10% non – refundable deposit will secure your mountain snow experience this winter with the balance and full payment only due 30 days prior to arrival. Should travel restrictions cause borders to be closed due to covid, or you contract covid, we will offer a full refund of any money paid, bar the 10% booking deposit. We don’t believe that we can be more fair than that.

WHAT ABOUT REFUNDS AND CANCELLATIONS FOR EXISTING PRE WINTER 2020 BOOKINGS ?

Our main priority has always been to offer you a memorable ski experience and as always will make every effort to fulfil that promise but we have to ask you to respect and support our no refund / deferment policy applicable to all bookings made prior to the lockdown of March 2020.

Option 1 : Transfer your existing booking to another family or friend.

Option 2 : Defer your booking to a later date during winter 2021 at the 2020 rates. This option is valid until 30 April 2021.

Option 3 : If you are considering postponing an existing booking to 2022, an option to secure your booking at the 2020 rate is offered, provided;

  1. Bookings where a deposit has been made may make use of this offer by making full payment before 31 April 2021
  2. Guests may elect to postpone their deposits to 2022 subject to potential rate changes and applicable fees. Please confirm with our booking agent before 30 April 2021.

The full COVID 19 T&C’s can be found on our website or by clicking here.
